The Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis
Welcome to the home of NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet in Minneapolis: the Orpheum Theatre! Originally the Hennepin Theatre, the Orpheum Theatre first opened its doors in Minneapolis in 1921. The legendary Marx Brothers were the first to perform at the venue that was billed as the largest vaudeville house in the country. Other legendary entertainers have performed there as well, including Fanny Brice, George Burns, and Jack Benny. The Orpheum later became a major cinema house, and one of the first to premiere films such as Gone with the Wind and From Here to Eternity. It has hosted big bands, including Count Basie and Tommy Dorsey, and productions of the Broadway hits My Fair Lady and Fiddler on the Roof.
